Jackie Chan’s latest vehicle, the Derek Yee directed Shinjuku Incident, will not be released in China according to the director himself. China’s lack of a ratings system essentially means that all films should be appropriate for all persons. As such, they wanted certain scenes of violence cut out, reports which contradict earlier speculation that the film angered censorship officials due to negative depictions of Chinese. Kudos to Derek Yee for not compromising the integrity of this film. He is a world class director.
